Remove loose matter from the fan parts with a paper towel or microfiber towel. Turn off the branch circuit breaker on the service panel supplying power to the attic ventilation fan. Disconnect the fan wiring. Find where your fan blades are attached to the ceiling fan housing and motor.

Use a screwdriver to remove a single fan blade. Make sure it is off by using. Remove the fan blade nut that attaches the fan blade to the motor shaft. Turn the ceiling fan off and allow the rotation of the blades to come to a complete stop.

How to replace an attic ventilation fan. Never trust the attic fan s thermostat. Remove the screws holding the cover on the electrical connections box using a flat blade or phillips head. Separate the grill cover from the back of the fan.

Step 2 locate the screws on the blade bracket that secures them to the motor. Slide the fan off the motor shaft. Remove the screw using a hex head wrench. Use a solution of hot water and mild or an all purpose cleaner to wipe down the blades and all fan parts inside and out.
