To vent a range hood through a wall or roof you have to open up a hole in the ceiling using a drill machine. Install the vent and seal the underside of the vent flange with roofing grade sealant caulk. Connect the vent hood using screws and anchors to ensure a good tight fit. Be sure to keep this larger piece and use it as a template in the next step.

This will also help you run an electric cable from the range hood over to the power box. Seal between the top of the vent flange and at the bottom of the roofing shingles as well. From up on the roof use a jigsaw or reciprocating saw to cut a 4 in.
